Ask Palm: Summer Vacation

Welcome to Ask Palm, the new (embarrassingly lame) column that will answer any question you dare send in! We've been secretly collecting e-mails and questions from various people (not really) for a long time to surprise you with this column!

   Dear Palm,

School's out for summer, but I don't know what to do! My family doesn't have a trip planned or anything, and I've got nothing to do. IT'S SO BORING!! My mom also insists on me taking special lessons like science and math outside of school, so I've got only five days of free time a week. Shouldn't a kid be out playing 24/7 ?

                                                                                                                    Sincerely,  Bored

  Dear Bored,

Sounds like you've got a case of School Lag! You've become so used to having to be told what to do all the time at school that you've got no idea what to do when you're free! I GET IT. That happens to me ALL the time. What you've gotta do is find yourself a friend. A schoolmate, cousin, sibling, or even a fun adult who's willing to hang out with you would be ideal. Now, just make an Activity Sheet. Write down activities that you would be willing or happy to do in random positions on a piece of paper. Write down as many as you want. Then, closing your eyes, use a pencil or pen or anything to point to a random spot on the paper. Open your eyes and do whatever activity you pointed to. The rules can be bent so that, if you don't want to do something, you can go again. The Activity Sheet really gets your ideas flowing. As for your special lessons, it sounds like your mom is just worried about your education. If you're feeling too pressured about it, just tell her you want to quit. Although, only two days of special lessons doesn't sound that bad. Who knows? Maybe when you get back to school, you'll be thankful for those lessons!

                                                                                                                   Sincerely, Palm

Dear Palm,

What's an effective way to kill my sister?

                                                          Sincerely, Murderous

Dear Murderous,

DO NOT KILL YOUR SISTER. BELIEVE ME. I WILL REPORT YOU TO THE POLICE.

                                                                                                                    Sincerely, Palm
